I was watching the news
And there were bulletins scrolling along the bottom of the screen. One bulletin read "Man's daughter dies as he uses her as a human shield." Then a couple of bulletins later there was one that read "Woman dies as she tries to rescue her dog that was drowning in a river."
It sure is a fukked up world we live in ain't it!

Re: I was watching the news
and on the side of that kiddie rape page, the "top manchester stories now" are
- Lauren death 'violent and brutal'
- Burglars target dead man's home
- Man stabbed in decorations 'row'
- Man charged with canal barge rape
if it's all the same 'man', he's been very busy

Re: I was watching the news
What the **** do you expect to be on the national news?
"Local man has prize winning tomatos"
"Happy children sing"
"Man celebrates uneventful birthday"
A lot of these things happen too, you know?

True, but it still makes depressing reading nonetheless
The thing that nags me is this kid (if he is guilty) will probably be sentenced to max 10 years , most in young offenders institute, then get new identity etc and live a normal life.
After he scarred those girls he raped for life
That is what gets me down seeing the news nowadays

Re: I was watching the news
What struck me about the bulletins I saw was not the fact that they both involved death but the fact that one guy was willing to sacrifice his own daughter to save his own skin while in the other story a woman was willing to sacrifice herself in order to attempt to save her dog.

Not even the local news is cheery up here. It's all stabbings and fat women battling against the council and scandals.

Re: I was watching the news
On our local news, some student made a hoax phone call saying there was a bomb in the bus station (on the day of the London bombings). It'll be interesting to see what punishment the twat gets.

Re: I was watching the news
"The court heard how he was arrested later the same evening after he approached police at the scene in the belief that they were members of the media"
"Halesowen magistrates were told the student was on probation for a similar offence"
What an arse hope they sort him out

And what do you suggest?

There is a tradition in many groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress. Godwin's Law thus practically guarantees the existence of an upper bound on thread length in those groups. However there is also a widely- recognized codicil that any intentional triggering of Godwin's Law in order to invoke its thread-ending effects will be unsuccessful.

I just think people like that should not be allowed to rejoin soceity after a horrific crime like that probably better off than when they got convicted.
Case in point - The jamie bulger killers got schooling with private tutors, rooms with computers and sat tv's and now each have been given homes with protection by police. Now i dunno if its just me but that seems not a bad end for 2 people who tortured a young kid and then left him to be decapitated on a railway track.
And i fear if this latest lad is convicted it will be a similar story
He should be castrated at least then the people who's lives he ruined should be able to decide what to do with him
