is it art?
as their are a number of people who live in the north east on GD, so likely a few who have survayed the Angel of the North, i was wondering what you thought of Gormleys earliest creation now in the Tate:

is this art?
does "modern" art float your boat?
would you rather the old classics?

Re: is it art?
Today's modern art is the sort of thing you would find being made in "Art Therapy" of the crazy-folk homes up and down the country in the 80's and 90's.
So modern must be some kind of ironic title, because its all been done before. Pretentious fks.
Oh, and you could see the Angel of the North from my flat window when i lived in Newcastle a few years ago.

curiously enough, I find that grows on you. I used to hate it, but now it'S not so bad, depending on which side of it I see. It provides a real landmark which says to me "Thank God I'm not in Newcastle anymore"

See, there are 'dirty' girls and there are 'dirty fithy disgusting' girls. Emin is the later. If my worst enemy decided he wanted to shag her I would try to talk him out of it.

Re: is it art?
I watched a documentary on "modern art".
In it it showed the work of one of Tracey Emin's previous boyfriends (from like 15 years ago or something ... when she was "dating" him).
He had done both the "tent with the names of his lovers" and "the unmade bed(room)" pieces.
Not only is Emin's "art" shit it's also unoriginal.
I really don't like her.

Re: is it art?
Who cares; does it really matter what other people like, or if they use words in a slightly different way than you?

Re: is it art?
Bread is meant for eating.
Similarly, modern art is for burning.

The Angel of the North actually looks rather pleasing, whereas the thing you posted is just a load of shit.

Re: is it art?
Authors are going to have a shit time finding anything symbolic or conspiracist about art for years to come to be honest.

true, but then they might move on to post-mortem diagnoses of various mental illnesses and neuroses.
