GD Advice
This post by megla got me thinking:

Over the years, it would seem GD has been handing out crap advice on an almost limitless list of topics.
Here's just a few I found:
Revision
Cinematography
Feet
Laptops
Back pain
I'd link to relationship threads, but there's so many of them, it would be futile.
My question is, has GD, as a whole, ever actually given out decent, worthwhile advice to anyone that asked for it, without taking the piss and generally being unpleasant.
If you have been the recipient of good advice, please tell us about it, so we can ensure it doesn't, I mean, does happen again.

Someone reffered me to kill myself. Though maybe negative for me, a positive for the community. SO i guess it was positive, and I request more positive advice.

Re: GD Advice
In most advice threads there is at least one decent piece of advice offered. A forum should be judged by it's best posters, not it's worst (or mediocre).

Re: GD Advice
The "help me with my relationships!" threads usually have a lot of good advice, but only for the person giving it. For the most part, they're useless, as we're all different socially and what one person might do (or might be acceptable) will not be the same for another.
The back pain and foot pain, I gave good advice (Phalon backed me up with actual subject knowledge though, I just happened to know a little bit about it).
I think DM's just begrudging that us young whipper-snappers know more than him

Re: GD Advice
I got good advice when asking about a programming project I did last year.
And there is quite a bit of good advice amongst the non-serious stuff in a lot of threads.
I always try and give good advice...

Re: GD Advice
I got a wide host of good advice exactly from the people that "sucks"
Not to be like them
Everyone serves purpuose. Even if it is just to be bad example. (CLiche Ahoy!!!112)
On a sidenote, actually ive benefitted from the wisdom and experience of many posters, and it would be a exercise of futility to remember everyone, but infact i think im a better person just from being here

Advice threads are posted just so you can get Yahwe's opinion on something for less than £60 an hour.

So the things I recommended to you regarding relationships and girls are useless?

They were useful.
But I didn't really take anyone's advice, as I did what I'd do normally (let things take their own course and stuff up without any intervention on my part).

Re: GD Advice
Most of the advice threads i'd say maybe arent even looking for advice, or even sympathy. Its just good to post everything down, get your problem out in the open, you can look at it objectively yourself after that.
Most of my best posts i presume are when i air some sort of issue or problem i've encountered, most peoples are. We can only comment on what we've been part of. If someone thinks im whining, or isnt interested in my take on something, i couldnt give a crap. But if someone has something constructive to say, it feels good.
I'm suprised that after all this time on the forums DM you still feel the need to take the default "lol GD is crap" attitude. These forums ****ing _rule_.
