Just as a heads up scoring goals isn't a part of defending.

Re: [football] General world cup antics!
Aparently ronaldo weights 90kg which is 8kg more than declared on Fifa.
Indeed it seems to me that he actually had all the pies =/
Albeit it looked like it is a good advantage against the skinny japanese

Re: [football] General world cup antics!
so muslim whats the brazilian press saying about this? alright the boy still has skill noone denied he was a brilliant player and with the chances brazil make anyone could get a decent goal rate, but its like watching a fat explayer in a charity tournament running around a bit huffing then knocking a few in for the fans. The team are carrying him and its going to cost them, whats the shizzle? a nike conspiracy? trying to beat the alll time goal scoring record? and what about ronaldinho? hes mondo dissapointed

Re: [football] General world cup antics!
Dramatic game. I was really surprised by Mexico, at least at the beginning they played pretty good. That off-side decision in the last minute was questionable, but Argentina won anyway, so no big damage done.

the goalscorer was offside but the guy that set him up was flagged instead. The referring was poor but the outcome was right.
Also, last ten minutes of normal time? Mexico were phenomenal.

There are always some idiots, but so far things seem to turn out rather well.
I wonder what would happen to our fans should we loose to Argentina next week (but after seeing both games even I think that we can actually win). This mass euphoria is just unbelievable, people are celebrating like we already won the cup.
PS. With about 32°C should I bet against England for this afternoon?

supporters here on brazil are always very critical of every football player. Critics on Ronaldo have beem extremely acid and mostly unfair. The 'he is fat' issue has been ridiculously exploited to mock him senseless.
Most brazilians are oblivious to the fact that he is still regarded as a trully great player, and think that no one takes him serious anymore and wonder how Parreira keeps him on the field.
Even after he scored 2 goals on the Japan match they see him only as someone doing nothing more than its obligation...
Personally I salute him as a great player, very moody, in the sense that he has MANY ups and downs, and I do think that he is going to be great on this cup if he struggles to deal with his limitations.

Re: [football] General world cup antics!
if he'd lost a stone in weight and come here hungry he'd be ****ing awesome, i think ghana might just surprise brazil even though this is easy to say i think your managers tactics have been crap, your players have the skill to play in a more free formation and make good football but it just seems they go to every game lost and unsure what to do.

Re: [football] General world cup antics!
Italy were ****ing colossal I thought, they are probably through the semi final now. Grosso did a job on Neill and it worked and it's what Italian sides are all about. Considering they were robbed by a ridiculous sending off and the worst refereeing of all time last world cup, it's probably luck evening itself out.
Gattuso was absolutely immense. I'm sure he learnt all he knows in Glasgow.
