As the quests havent changed this round, here is the guide on how to get to 53 roids (without upgrading), please post this into your galaxy forum so everyone see's it.

<Light> reset your planet in preferences (Preferences > Exile/Del/Rest/Vaction > reset planet)
<Light> go to overview and start beginner and galaxy/alliance quests
<Light> init 4 of each roid (mining screen)
<Light> research HCT (research screen)
<Light> construct research labv (construction screen)
<Light> vote for a GC (politics screen)
<Light> init all the roids you can (mining screen)
<Light> Create alliance (alliance screen)
<Light> enable alliance scans (Preferences screen > Alliance Options (blue link at the top))
<Light> disband alliance (alliance screen, at the bottom (Leave alliance))
<Light> Cancel Research/Construction (Research/Construction Screen)
<Light> Change race to ETD (Preferences screen)
<Light> Trade 369 eonium to metal (mining screen > Open Market Trade (blue link at the top))
<Light> Trade 369 eonium to crytal (same screen as before)
<Light> Init 1 more Metal and Crystal roid (Mining Screen)
<Light> Set whichever race you want to play (preferences screen)
<Light> assign population (population screen)
<Light> set a goverment (population screen)
<Light> Restart your research/construction (HCT and Research Lab)
(Your then free to do whatever you want, do the rest of the quests for XP, join your alliance, etc.)

Note, you can trade whichever resources you want (based on your races stats).. i.e. instead of Eonium to Metal/Crystal, you could trade 370 Metal for Eonium/Crystal.

No offence Light but this is a little confusing.

To start off reset ur planet if u have already made any changes of any kind so that it returns to the status of a new planet.

Step 1. activate the begginer quests on overview
step 2. activate the Galaxy/Alliance Setup quests on overview
Step 3. Start the Heavy Cargo Transfer
Step 4. Start your Research Lab
Step 5. Vote for a Galactic Commander

if done correct you should now have 13000 of each resource, go to the mining screen and initiate as many roids as possible
click on the mining screen again and you should now have enough resources to init 1 more of each roid giving a tottal of 27 roids.

Step 6. create an Alliance - it is faster to create ur own. which u can leave imediatley and join ur real alliance,
as some alliance do not accept members straight away.

Step 7. Sharing scans - go to preferances and allow alliance to view scans
Step 8. if needed cancel anything relevant and change race to etd, now trade enough resources for 2950 each resource of crystal and eonium and
initiate another one of each crystal and eonium.
Step 9. now complete all of the remaining quests for begginer and galaxy/alliance setup quests
Step 10. after completion you should now have 53 asteroids

Just out of interest how much resources do you have left after trading?

I'm trying to work out if losing 5% is completely beneficial, I imagine it is but I'm just curious

It's worth losing up to 312 resources (299 if you put 15 pop on mining) in trading in order to init another roid.

Not the portal, a rl friend who I really need to teach a lesson in proper submissive behavior. Now let's hope I will be able to beat him, the game doesn't look very different but maybe there are some big changes I cannot see on the surface. Perhaps we should have a chat on IRC, which channels do you hang out in?
