I will be addressing a question to the white house com about how the American youngsters feel about use of Nuclear Weaponry and how they have lost their sense of realism playing too much delta force. I hate Americans who think that their country is more than the rest of the world, but the odd thing is that the percentage of that kind of people is generally higher in the US than in the rest of the world. Or so it seems...

The silliest is those patriotic masses singing their anthem by every christmas tree that is lit. Whenever there's a football game, or a christmas tree lit, they massively sing their anthem and how proud they are of their country and how great it is etc etc...
And when someone says something bad about their country (IE: the Germany thingy, don't remember what happened there, but it was blown out of proportion) they threaten with sanctions and whatever they can muster.

I'm sorry, but I see this as a form of extremism, just like those Taliban peeps.

I wrote a huge post addressing all of the issues raised in this forum thus far and sent it. Then apparently the forum reset about 15 minutes later and I lost the message.

I will try to rewrite some of it.

Americans normally don't sing the national anthem when they light a Christmas tree. I'm sure it has happened before, but normal songs would be Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snow Man or Silent Night.

I have been insulted by many Europeans on this forum because I was born in Texas. I don't hate all Europeans. I don't even hate the people who insulted to me.

Some Americans are fat. Some are fit. Anyone who tells you all people of some group are something is probably lying. Except in the case of some obvious example like "All Americans live in this solar system" or "Every person on Earth would die if aliens stole the sun."

The Germany thing was two things. First, Schroeder said he would not support an attack on Iraq even if the UN said Iraq should be attacked. He did this to get re-elected. Second, some Justice Minister in Tuebingen compared Bush to Hitler. She did not know that a reporter was in the audience.

Some children say the pledge of allegiance every day, some every Monday and some not at all. The reasoning behind it, I believe, is because people from all over the world go to live in the United States. Saying the pledge, in theory, allows their children to think of themselve as Americans rather than for example German refugees fleeing the Bolshevik Revolution.

Hundreds of thousands of American men claim to have fought in Vietnam when in reality many of them did not serve in the military at all or only served in Germany for two years drinking beer and chasing German girls. Some of them served in Vietnam but were never actually shot at or shot at anyone.

My (and many other peoples) good points have been ignored more than enough by the DF3 lot the past few weeks... Please forgive as I'm a tad bitter about that and I'm ATM a bit prejudiced about Americans in general because of that whole DF3 affair. The amount of crap that flew over there is unimaginable.

To get back on the Schroeder thing, I still believe the entire thing was blown out of proportion. I recall Bush being called a "Hitler" because he was putting countries under pressure to join his anti-terrorism war. I don't have any direct sources for this, this is all from the top of my head.

As to comment to the Anthem thing again, I still find it a weird tradition and IMO it still is a form of nationalism. I think if I'd go around here, asking people if they were really proud to be Dutch I don't think many would say "yes". And I don't think any of them would know the first 3 lines of our national anthem.
While I have the idea (tell me I'm wrong if I'm talking nonsense) that when goes about asking Americans if they are proud to be American, the majority would happilly say "yes". And "yes" to the question if America is better that the rest of the world.
That last part bothers me most... But again, I've never been to America so I could be wrong.

I hope I can a fair answer to this and not one as biased as seen on the DF3 forums.

No, she said that the policy of Bush in several regards resembled the policy that Hitler used to gain control over Germany. Which is a fair statement to make, and could easily be made again by historians in a few hundred years time.

Actually, no. Most of the people on several forums online (I frequent a lot more than just gaming forums) claim to be in their middle ages. I'd say that 230 million is a rather large amount of apples for one container. Having said that, if you pick 100 at random and 95 are bad, I think it's fair to say that it's unlikely you had the only 95 bad ones in the lot.

It was actually my post that got deleted temporarily. I would also like to note that I have never posted at DF3. I was not aware of the DF3 discussion board until I came back here after a three-month absence. I played PA for three rounds, but not the last round.

As to the veterans, almost everyone believed them until recently when people -- not content to claim veteran status in Vietnam -- started claiming they were special forces. A little research was done and it was found that thousands of veterans were being treated in veteran's hospitals for free when they had never served in the military.

Most Americans think the United States is a better place to live than the rest of the world. But most of them only know other countries from watching the television. I have lived in Europe for the last 14 years, so I do not necesarily agree with them. I would prefer to live in Heidelberg, Germany myself. Communication is a bit easier in Dallas for me than it is in Heidelberg.

Leshy has it right above... almost. It is politically incorrect to compare the policies of the leader of one's ally to that of Hitler. Especially if you are a German politician. You notice she resigned her job.
