"How much do you spend a week on groceries?"

I'm trying to work out a budget you see.

About £25, I reckon. Usually in 2 lots of about £10-15 a week in the local Tesco. Most of that is bread (I often have one those 73p bloomer loaves to myself), milk, pizza, sausages, coke and then meat and pasta sauce or something. Oh yeah and an apple and maybe a carrot.

I spend £20 a week, me and my housemates shop online at sainsburies and chip in £20 each we get a shit load of food and it will last with a decent lunch (normally frozen food) and decent dinner (chicken curry, lamb chops, pasta etc) we always have milk, bread, bacon, sausages etc as well, so i never go hungary tbh and rarely spend money elsewhere on food.

Just now I had a choose and ham toastie (spanish cheese and ham is teh pwn) well nice.

The key is though know how to cook, you know how to cook u will spend v little. For example I can cook a chicken/lamb balti aloo, macoronni cheese, lasagne, stir fry, chops, etc etc. Means that when cooking you dont get ready made stuff, you can do it all with ingrediants, with cheap veg and meats (ATM chicken fillets at Sainsburies, by one get one free \o/)

Another tip is plan what ya gonna buy. A big tendancy is to walk around a supermarket and go i want that, that, that, that and spend a shit load, buying online means you can sit in your underpants and plan exactly what you want.

Round about the £50 mark, sometimes closer to £40 sometimes closer to £60. That's for 2 of us.

We aim for £55 between two of us, and within the house we plan to put in £20 each a week for dinners and communcal food (milk and the like) and then we will have £15 left for breakfast and lunches. Given I am trying to be healthy and breakfast currently costs me about 20p a day (porridge with rasins and sultanas and cinnamon) and lunch is a jacket potato (brought from home and cooked in the microwave) this seems to mean Mark can buy microwave pizzas for every other meal.

no more than £20 per week, and i do have to shop at sainsbury's since there are no tesco/asda/lidl near where i live i rely mainly on jacket potatoes, egg and bacon sandwhiches, bacon and cheese sandwhiches, egg and beans on toast and those wicked all day breakfasts.

fair enough, but what the hell are you buying to spend that amount? you generally fine that if you are buying fresh and making your own, it costs less than processed food anyway

I wish I had time / energy to make "proper" food, it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper. I probably spend a good £10-£15 some weeks just on crisps, chocolates, cakes etc.

She's ****ing ace at finding deals though. She'll get decent food for a couple of weeks for only £25 or so. Whereas I'll spent about £40 on just a week's food for myself. She does it all with ingredients, then we cook together.

well i must of spent about £10 on a producing a curry for 2 last night, but mainly because i messed up the recepe and maid way too much curry paste. whooops.

apart from that i get alot of specialist herbs and spices, and alot of veg, but most of my stuff is organic just beacuse i like the taste. Plus i don't have a huge freezer so can't freeze much which means i can't buy anything in blulk
