The fact that Democrats do well in urban areas and Republicans do well in rural ones is so basic a point that it makes my head wobble, twist, and fall off.

If that represents the simple amount of votes for whatever candidate won in X district, then Chigaco apparently has the largest population in the world.

It's there on the coast of Texas, about a quarter of the way between Louisiana and Mexico.

I think what is skewed is those blue skyscrapers.

I think you miss my point a tad.

If the towers supposedly represent the quantity of votes cast, then why on earth, for example, is Seattle's collumn twice, if not three times, as large as Houston's?

This is logically impossible, since Seattle has an inferior number of residents.

Yeah that was my thought.

It doesn't show anything that interesting aside from the fact the Republican's victories are more evenly spread around than the Democrats. That could imply the Reps have an inbuilt advantage on current boundaries, etc - but the data's not clear since cities aren't states, etc.

Not really. A flat map is equally misleading as it shows the whole country being Republican without comparing relative population sizes, or size of victory by each party, etc.

I'm perfectly aware where Alaska is, I was saying that the counties in Alaska look too 'tall'.
