Election 2004.
Hello, I'm Marilyn Dimbleby, and this is the thread for all the posting regarding the results, events and so on that will come in during tonight. Just so the board is nice and tidy and we don't have approximately 5000 different threads all reporting that GWB has had a shit in Nebraska and that kind of thing.
This is simply for discussion of the results and events, not for the more general issues.

Let's not forget the 300 important voters stuck up in Manitoba, Canada this year.
THEY COULD DECIDE THE OUTCOME!

I shall be drinking myself senseless at the Union while this is all going on, but if someone could just post drunken obscenities on my behalf after each state reports then I'd appreciate it.

An Anchorman on CBC Newsworld (canada's version of BBC News 24) just commented to an American correspondant upon her telling him that Wal-Mart were going to be showing the election coverage in all their stores... "Given how Wal-Mart are politically bent I'm curious if they aren't all showing Fox's coverage of it"

Bush 34
Kerry 3
However, the Bush ones were in guranteed, but my even less margin than electoral-vote.com predicted.
Edit: fs, damn BBC, making me think these votes were like official.

The results so far from Kentucky show Kerry five points up on what Gore achieved in 2000. Now that's interesting.

Re: Election 2004.
Electoral vote's latest one has that at 51-47 in favour of Bush.
Most results coming in give Bush less than predicted.
Edit: West Virginia gone to Bush bu that's no surprise.

Actually West Virginia has been touted as a possible swing state prior to this result given that it's got a large student population and a large population of ex military that got boned by his cuts to army wages etc etc... however they already made sure none of the student population that wasn't from WV could vote so god knows what else he pulled.

Re: Election 2004.
Heh, they just announced that their was a less than 10% turnout of the 18-24 voting population... I'm not surprised given the amount of complaints popping up all over the internet about those 18-24 students who are away from home in uni's complaining about how they can't vote.
Oh and did I mention that apparrently the 18-24 voting range was forecasted as being kerry majority by a 15% advantage according to polls?
I really find that surreal that over 90% of the voters that are aged 18-24 didn't vote...
Oh and it's
95 Bush
78 Kerry
On the stations I have here. (I'm in north america watching CBC Newsworld report live from Washington)
p.s. Kerry is ahead in Ohio atm at 56% vs 44% but in Florida it's 55% bush 44% kerry 1% other

CNN has a precincts reporting thing, but it's only at 25% so far, and I don't know what it's based on.
No-one is going to say either candidate is going to "win Florida" for quite some time yet.

Based on the amount of precincts yet reporting, of course.
Certainly, that's as useless as to say Kerry would actually lead at the moment, only because he has slightly more electoral votes... but frankly, what else do you want to do during the next 2 hours?
