Re: Avartar
Unless you got promoted to PA team or became a mod without me noticing you shouldnt have an avatar TheAce.
If you mean the gold leafs etc, they disappeared a while ago when we trsnsferred to vb3 iirc, maybe even before that.

I can't believe I missed this. In fact I can't even think where I would have been to have missed it.
Plus Dante Hicksesque 'restrict img/avs to users regged over 6months ago' option or something.

Re: Avartar
Avatars should be enabled for everyone or disabled for everyone. Having only some people with them just creates a demand with no way to satisfy it--leading to envious forum users (which is probably the point I suppose). I think they should be turned off for anyone who doesn't have one and on for those who do; that way those who have them will get their ego stroked at their own expense and those who don't won't be bothered by them either way--a win-win.
I have them turned off so I'm happy regardless.

Re: Avartar
they make image filters... wich if they contain a certain amount of pixels of a certain color, then you can post them.. ive seen them.. It filters out pictures with a lot a skintones... so you can put porn, or a picture of yourself... i gues you you could just change the hue on the picture with a half decent editor thu..
i thought you got an advatar when you reach a certain amount of posts :-(.
What about the ability to choose an advatar.. one thats already on the server.. so that you could pick your favorite PA team member O.o, id go with Mushrooms, just because of the picture..

I'm sure a couple of community members would help out with that sort of thing, it's not a great deal of work to glance at an image and click 'yay' or 'nay'.

There was also the thread where Karm disabled the censor, and posted every censored word (including some evasions). Unfortunately, when he turned it back on, it only removed the non-evading words, so karm strictly speaking should have been banned for repeated censor evasion.

It would be more effective to have a couple of people sorting through them every time they changed. Porn in an av isn't the only way it could be offensive.

How bout a system where the players could report a bad advatar, and then PA team takes a look, then bans the users IP adress. ;-)

None of the suggestions will be used. Those powers that be who controll such things are just to lazy to care.
Out of the 6 v-boards that I am a member of and several of them with a much larger member count, seem not to have any problems. Tells you alot about this crew.
But of course making a lier out of me would be a good thing (for once)

We ban IP addresses as it is. Thats all well and good until someone finds out how to use a proxy server.

The fact i read (and mod) pretty much every single post posted anywhere on this forum, the main exception being RP, means i am lazy?

some websites block the use of a proxy server... i think, because i cant get to some sites via a proxy.. ie hotmail.. could you do the same thing?

I am glad that these boards are one of the few sensible ones without avatars, [img] and too much sucky smilies. Grow up.

That's not fair karm. Every single rule etc was removed at that point due to the expected changeover to the forums from vb2. As such it's hardly shocking that rules were broken. And the word flooded is a horrendous overstatement. That's like calling being pmed twice on irc flooding. Having someone approve all the avatars would be simple (hell I could do it myself if nobody else has the time).
Edit: On a personal note I think avatars are the most pointless things in existence. I've seen a grand total of zero funny ones ever.

Re: Avartar
Avatars do serve no purpose, i am more convinced by the argument for IMG tags than the one for avatars.
The only reason i have an avatar is so i can quickly scroll down to were i last posted. It makes modding much easier .

JJ turned them back on - not me
if i had a say in it i would allow most of the words on the censor

Actually 'pics' and 'avatars' are 2 separate things you can disable/enable, disabling pics means you still see avatars.
edit options -> profile -> Thread Display Options, for the lazy ones.

i think avatars are pointless yes, but in this world there are loads of things that are pointless, but still a lil fun. Like avatars. I like em, it personalizes your profile a bit. This aint no dating place, but i think its nice to have your own personal profile. And yes yes, i know there's a signature bla bla bla, but still ;p
Thats why i think you actually should use the 'mods/admins verification before usage'-method. But then again, that aint already a part of this premade board, so it would have to be scripted in by one of the 1337 techs'n'script0rs....
TheACE is cute btw =P

I would like to use my propery siggy picture that i use on my other forums.. i think that would be nice instead i have to deal with all this txt instead. Perhaps just allowing sigs such as banners to be displayed would be nice, instead of only been able to display them in a link to click on.

Signatures should not be of a length longer than 10 lines. Preferably use a signature of 2 lines in length. The posting of IRC logs is found to be both annoying and unsuitable unless it is of 2 line length. Do not change your signature so it fills up half the page with what you want people to see. It is highly likely that 99% of other users take very little notice of what you may or may not find inspiring and/or humourous.
