This might be a totally unfeasible idea, it would be up to the techies to work out how abusable it is...

Say 12 person gals.

5 in a buddy pack
2 late sign-ups
1 exiled

Then 2 spaces reserved for new players who havent upgraded before, based on card details/email addresses/ip's etc (and these two guys can't be exiled) BUT
can be added to the main gal by the GC
Each gal would have 2 spaces for adding new players. So we have:
2 spaces for new players
2 spaces to add those 2 players.

Then as one person gets added to the main gal, it frees up a space for a new planet.

Would this encourage people to take on and teach new players and encourage new players in?

You could have an exil time of say 10 days for players in the 'new players position' so we cant just get rid of them.

i have always advocated no exiles. u create your bp then ur stuck with what else u get. only exiles are by the universe when someone doesnt log in for a specified period of time.

this would put an extrememly strong emphasis on galaxy cooperation.

however, with the universe so small currently, this is probably not workable as your alliance is almost certainly going to have to hit your gal at some point

Registering a new account is easy.

I like the idea of setting up galaxies with benefits to new players, who have never played before. Either, they can join their freind's Galaxy or something.

But, like Mzyxptlk said, the benefits of creating a new account have to be off set with the benefits of retaining an account, round to round.

Tricky, and perhaps should only be introduced after 20% of the round. This period of the game could become more influential on the outcome of the game, or it could be policed so it did not have a large impact.

Add some kind of achievements to the existing accounts. Also add some achievements in game which are noted in your email profile. Make your email account valuable. Maybe give a discount for credits to people who played 2 or more consecutive rounds. Do anything to make ppl keep their accounts and not just create new ones.

Regardless of all the other drivel in this thread, the idea of giving discounts or freebies for people who have an activated account over n rounds (or similar marketing ploys) might make sense.
