[TV] Gosh this annoys me
More specifically this advert. Theres few adverts which make me cringe and reach to the remote to change the channel.
It got me thinking (yes a rarity) on why companies make shit and annoying adverts. I then realised why! My theory is they make annoying adverts to fire up discussion much like what this thread will do and so when I go to the supermarket I will have frosties in my mind and will hopefully put the shitness of the advert at the back of my head and by them. The fact its so shit is a good enough reason for me to take note.
Maybe these companies are smarter than we give them!

Re: [TV] Gosh this annoys me
Cheesy adverts are pretty detestable yeah, but life's too short to start getting annoyed about the invasion of shitty american culture.
That said the current burger king marketing, with its oh-so inclusive language and 'golden age' styling, is utterly disgusting. After having to swallow the burger king price and quality I shouldn't have to tolerate some fag telling me I can define myself by the way I order junk food.

American advertisements haven't been that shit for about 20 years now.
They're more like this now.

My housemates work for an advertising company.
They did the Cillit Bang advert.
Cillit Bang didn't give them a decent advertising budget.
We've all seen the results.

I think that's what the advertising company decided they were going to do when they realised they couldn't do anything even slightly good.
Oh and this is amusing: http://www.luckykazoo.com/media/2005...ang-remix.html (thanks to cherry_death on PB)

no - they're aged 26 and 31 and still renting in a house with me.
I'm sure a lot of people in the company are though.

I've always assumed the Cillit Bang adverts were ironic and clever... although I suppose that doesn't mean they aren't shit.
On the other hand, everyone knows about them

The BT adverts that bring complicated family politics into a phone advert are especially crap
