they're certainly up there.

Nod's list (because it's interesting):

)this is true, although in its golden years the writing was better than pretty much anything else ever.
)true up to a point, but they were still good, and clever lyrics are all-too-rare a commodity.
)disagree about 'the 60s' (BOB ****ING DYLAN) and about the beatles too (rubber soul is one of the greatest albums ever, ever, and revolver is pretty ****ing great too).
)if the writing is good enough it doesn't matter (see The Fast Show).
)it's not a great album but i think it deserves 'good'.
)the bit before you mention Ayn Rand has some validity but sometimes (Trigger Happy TV for example) the focus is on the slapstick more than anything else - this is why (see point 4) the catchphrase bits in it were shit (anything with the giant phone).
)while there are individual cases where id disagree for the most part yes.
)abortion is clouded by the amiguity of the right-to-life issue in many people's minds who would not oppose it at all if they were more sure of themselves. designer babies and cosmetic surgery are issues about the idea of creating an underclass of poor people who can't afford to be beautiful, and the sale of organs is a fairly obvious one about the potentially fatal exploitation of the poor and desperate.
)it's a lack-of-judgement issue. it's a bad idea for a 3-year-old or a paranoid psychotic to own a firearm, for example. Certainly though there a number of cases where arbitrary lines have been drawn without much consideration for children (age of consent to some extent, drinking age, driving age etc) and some rights witheld for the mentally ill (iirc voting in some cases) which seems absurd.
)i think the 'position of trust' issue has to be considered but between two independent adults yeah i tend to agree.
