[No Dachi]

Edward stopped momentarily to get a good look at his surroundings. The affluent suburbs surrounding New York were deserted at the moment, with their middle class residents having either fled at the first signs of fighting or else shut themselves indoors. None of this particularly concerned the bounty hunter, who was much used to trying to avoid attention - a task made somewhat difficult by his conspicuous eyepatch. A bush in a garden on the left side of the road suddenly rustled threateningly, and Edward brought his assault rifle to bear only to see a cat emerge from concealment. It sat, watching him interestedly, its tail waving apathetically behind it. Abruptly, the distant booming of exploding ordnance reminded the Marshall that there was a war on, and that he needed to get off the streets. Up ahead, a short distance down the road, was a rather unremarkable two floor house didn't exactly stand out from its surroundings - and would thus make an excellent hiding place. Edward set off toward it at a run, his power armoured boots hitting the ground heavily with each step. As soon as he found a computer he was going to access his bank account and convert all of his Commonwealth Credits to gold - he had just left the capital city of the nation even as enemy forces took military control of it, and was quite sure that its currency was not going to maintain its current value for much longer. Gold, on the other hand, would translate nicely into Majestic Credits or whatever the new regime introduced after its conquest, thus preserving his hard-earned profits.
