I'd recommend S. M. Stirling's
Island in the Sea of Time series and Eric Flint's
Ring of Fire series.
In the non-fiction category, I've just finished
Shattered Sword, a book on the battle of Midway (a very good read for a 'technical' book) and
The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors, about the battle off Samar during the larger battle of Leyte Gulf.
