I tend to oppose uniforms and indeed smartness/cleanliness on general principle, but I think it's generally considered that some of the nazi's get-up was rather swish. I see people in German uniforms quite often when out clubbing and they usually look OK.

Anyway...on the story at hand, I am increasingly of the opinion that 90% of the media is dedicated to trolling and if was a poster on the average internet forum would have been banned by now.

I'm not even talking about the more obviously trashy bits of the press (celebs, etc) which I have vowed to ignore. But almost every story seems to be posed and counterposed to annoy someone. So, we're not given the full context this guys remarks were made in (perhaps there's copyright restrictions meaning they can't do that, but that seems doubtful) - the net result being that undoubtedly some people would find it upsetting, or at least annoying. But then conversely the quotes from the various Heebs in the linked story aren't given context either - some guy is said to have told Reuters something or other, but in what circumstances?

Did he phone up reuters and demand they publish his views or he'd eat some Palestenian children, or did some journalist phone him up and say "Hey, some minor celeb who models for M&S said the nazi's iconography was fantastic. He also said he loved the smell of burnt Jew in the morning. What do you have to say about that, yiddo?". So the rent-a-quote guy has to give some general condemnation I suppose - "Erm...yeah that sounds pretty bad. I really wish people would stfu and not say thing like this."

Then Reuters publish "Jewish leaders extraordinary outburst against singer, free speech and Christians generally" or whatever to which Richard Littlejohn responds with a column entitled "When will Jew PC madness end - are British kids going to go to prison for playing war games?" or something equally nonsensical and then there's some stupid letters page somewhere which responds with "I think it's ridiculous that it's being suggested we imprison kids for playing a harmless game - and then some (hopefully false) letters appear insulting the letter writers mum and this bullshit goes on and on at every stage the "debate" (such as it is) is obscured and distorted to seem more explosive/exciting/inflammatory than it really is.

Oh well, I guess it keeps a few hacks employed.
