Been playing the Civ series pretty consistently for about 14 years. I remember doing a presentation on it when I was 8 (don't ask why)
Civ2 is certainly the best, i rarely finish a civ3 game... although the "play the world" add-on got rid of some annoyances.
Civ4 should be good
