I agree. I played the hell out of Civ 3 and while the new features (eg resources) entertained me for a while I finally realised that it was actually not that good. It's ok for the first couple thousand years but then it just drags.

Anyway, from the previews I've read of Civ 4 it looks like they're going back to what made Civ 2 so good and updating it so I'm looking forward to trying it out.
