Roaccutane should be seen as a last resort when everything else has failed because it has side effects and allegedly has been linked to depression.
If washing doesn't stop it (diet doesn't necessarily help), go to a dermatologist and any one worth his salt will give you antibiotics for a while, which will stop any infection and washing and the like should keep it under control. This works for me.
If that fails, then you use roaccutane.
I don't see how it could stop facial scarring - if you get bad acne, you are going to get facial scarring.
