I think if I was going to study in America I'd go to Colombia in NY, but I'm not even sure why (I think they have some sort of 'deal' with my current uni). It depends on what you want to study, I'm not MIT would be any good at English Lit.

But yeah, what are you looking to study? And how are you looking at Edinburgh? I thought your A-Level grades were pretty rubbish so far (no offence).
