You might want to look at Canadian schools, McGill and U of Toronto are just as good as the top tier american schools, for something like a 3rd of the price.

mcgill was the idea put to me that triggered the whole thing. i'm very much aware of UoT/McGill is possibilities, but I'm also aware that they come out pretty expensive for international students when all's said and done: £12-15k p.a. at mcgill, about £12k p.a. at toronto.
Also, anyone who can tell me how Stafford loans work and if i have a cat's chance in hell of getting one given my circumstances wins the awesomeness prize.
