What about those places that are 30 minutes off or 15 minutes off? In PA we all use GMT and have no problem with it but the idea of using GMT for the non PA world seems to be a really strange idea to most. We all have a mindset that what we already know is how it should be. If you grew up using one world standard time you would think separate times zones was a crazy idea.
