I might have missed Dantes point, but I view things in the sense that power should be given back to regions. Engage the public, allow them to shape the policies and politics.

I don't know how sucessful the GLA has been but from an outsiders point of view it seems to work. One identiy, one goal and the people know who is accountable and they understand that they have a say in what happens.

Politics on a local level works for so many reasons.
