I am sure that some lessons will be learned. However, knowing the American psyche to be overly optimistic most of the time, if another similar disaster of this magnitude doesn't occur within the next 10 years, we will undoubtedly forget much of what we have learned.
i find it incredible that there was not an emergency plan already formulated which detailed what would happen if a levee was breached and how to deal with it.
