Noldor's Tribulations

2114

Following the expansion of mankind into the stars, the logical conclusion was to then colonize worlds other than that of Gaia, a world that has become covered in industry and metal and concrete cities cover most of the land. Leaving very little space left for anything natural anymore. The new colonise that stared to arise first run by governments and once cooperation’s where allowed to venture into its depths even more colonies arose on various moons and asteroids with anything of worth. The conditions at first where dismal for anyone promised a new life, and didn’t improve until a revolt caused the creation of a sect movement that is dedicated to stopping cooperate discrimination.

After small accident turned to riots, and riots turned into revolts and then changes in leadership forcing some colonies to allow a civilian run government into power, others colonies simple disappeared due to major malfunctions the movements actives stopped abruptly. Whilst on earth the counting dwindling resources and loss of diplomatic ties between most nations resulted in a war which ended in the almost complete loss of all life on it. The nearest colonies and stations where first to suffer, without a constant supply of food and industry materials most ground to a halt, a few but the poor or unneeded left in their antiquated ships further into space to the deeper newly founded colonies. Finding the same situation a lack of supplies and to many people to support. The space naval forces at the time headed by Admiral Stantzer took systematic control over every orbital colony or planetary colony in their path, repeating same actions everywhere; using their superior ships any resistance would be destroyed and then they would pillage what resources and supplies to feed their own soldiers destroying colonies after leaving or destroying a planets factories and farms and taking anyone of value and executing the rest.

When nearing the edge of the solar system the last few colonies had joined together in an attempt to stop the Admirals purification as he called it, forming their own basic but large fleet, made up of modified cargo ships, transport ships with weapons added, if it could fly it had weapons added to it and sent to the front lines. The two fleets met in a climatic battle that lasted days and ended up with both sides suffering heavy casualties, the former navy had better ships and weapons than the free colonist, but the colonists outnumbered the navy in numbers. Though a few Navy vessel switched sides during the fight the Admirals ship suffered a mutiny participated by the unknown sect their last message stating that freedom is only possible when the heart is left to roam freely, and the soul glides into the depths of the stars.

Shortly after the Naval Flagship engines lost stability causing a meltdown in its atomic reactor, the fighting stopped at that moment as both side realised they had no future in this galaxy anymore to many resources had already been wasted to start again. A year later a series of ships put together from all remaining ships left in both the fleets using their sub light engines and filled with long distance sleeper pods of selected candidates with no information of their origin programmed into the ships computer, only what data and resources that where needed to start a anew.

The large sleek station orbiting the home planet, named after unknown literal reference by its first colonist as simply hope, though that was many centuries ago now. Johan could not help but wonder what drove their ancestors out from wherever they came from, whatever their reasons it was never recorded and remains a debate for philosophers and scientist alike. Taking a deep heavy breath, and despite his advanced years Johan was still young looking. Something he had one of his ancestors to be thankful for. His life expectancy was double an average human, if you could consider anyone average anymore everyone had their own little traits caused by modifying genes to adapt better to space travel or simple life itself. Only a few purists remained devout in their fanatical religion that we should go back to simple teachings and not become a slave to technology preaching something about it being the downfall of the mother civilisation.

Letting out a heavy sigh as he stared out of his hardened poly view port , the thought of such purists enough to sicken him, preaching nonsense yet using technology to stop those with it. His attention caught as he Catches sight of a large cruiser docking with the space station, its hull a sleek black, finely shaped in an artistic manner.

“Frayed, here?”

Taping harshly at a touch panel the view port being covered by a section of hull plating, Johan not helping but be thankful that his next mission would be starting in a few hours, but unable to regret letting her down again. Turing sharply around baying any such thoughts away, now was not the time. Reaching into his uniforms top pocket to pull out a pair of small glasses, its lenses made of glass from the way shone in the light. His vision clearing to crystal clarity to look about his office, a small desk littered with a few standard data pads, a potted plastic plant the closest thing he could get to real one on this ship without having to fill out to many forms for his liking. Nestled within a stand an antique violin lay within a clear poly case, securely fastened in its padded stand, a bookshelf of antique perfectly preserved and still readable after centuries of being in existence from before even the creation of the united worlds. Regardless this ship was the life he chose, and his belongings went with him on it, that was how it was for men such as him. Striding across the padded floor insulated floor his company uniform in pristine condition, pushing past his disregarded chair a fine layer of dust having seated itself there. Taking one last glance around his room, his face forcing a smile

“Duty calls”

Directing his comment to a picture of a young looking girl wearing a flowing dress, taken at some elegant celebration.

The facts

You are to be a crew old or new member of the Noldor, a Science/Archaeology vessel with a limited arsenal of weapons at its disposal. Part of a fleet of ships owned by one of the largest ship and archology producing companies, captained by Johan Ghala, a decorated captain during the war between the humans and the Frayed . A war which ended up with no clear victor, the Frayed surrender after a few battles and now act as merchants, mercenaries, and various other likewise occupations, shortly after the war abruptly ended Johan left the military service and joined the cooperate run fleets. Being captain to the Noldor for his twelfth year. A fair warning this is not heavily combat orientated thread though there will be some battles and characters have to be limited in the abilities. The range of character skills can range from scientist to flight officer to a soldier, that choice I will leave up to you. But as stated before this is not heavily combat orientated thread and will have other aspects involved mostly like mystery. The ship houses a crew of three thousand, the ships size being about the size of a large cruiser powered by three fusion drives. Some slight traits are accepted in characters along the lines of maybe longer life expectancy or partial increase in memory recall etc, but nothing major as in enhanced strength and general pain tolerance etc. Modification either biological or technological is outlawed due to its long term effects, only basic neural interfaces are allowed to better aid access to ships data and controls, though not compulsory in most ships.

Mission

A recently scouted planet shows a sign of remains and also possible resources, the mission is two fold to investigate the origins of the ruins for historical records, as well as do a detailed study on the possibility of founding a mining archology on the planet.
