Salvage as of Round 49

Hi all,
there have been a lot of salvage changes. A key change has been made as of Round 49 (...not dissimilar to the change made in Round 48).

I'll try and explain what these changes are and how they affect players, as well as I can.

Round 48 and before
Currently (Round 48 and before), we have stealing as follows:
-ship gets stolen
-stealing ship dies
-salvage gets generated from stealing ship, which has been marked as "killed"

This means that, when defending, only the stealer gets the salvage. When attacking, the defender whose ships get stolen gets less salvage than they would if they were killed.

This is a fairly big boost for the stealing races, mainly Zik, and means that other races (especially Cathaar) suffer when co-defending.

Round 49 and after
We will have stealing as follows:
-ship gets stolen
-stealing ship dies
-salvage gets generated from stolen ship
-stealing ship still gets marked as "killed" but does not contribute to salvage.

This means:
Defenders who are defending along side steal ships will now get some salvage when attacker ships are stolen
When you have your ships stolen, you will get more salvage (twice as much) and it will be in your m:c:e ratios rather than that of the zik ship dying.

Salvage formula
Done for metal - crystal/eonium is similar

Metal Salvage
((attacking_ships_killed*metal_cost_of_ships) + (attacking_ships_stolen*metal_cost_of_ships)) * attacker_salvage_rate * (defending_fleet_value/total_defending_value)*(1+race_bonus/100)

+
((fleet_defending_ships_killed-fleet_defending_ships_lost_from_stealing)*metal_cost_of_ships)*defender_salvage_rate * (1+race_bonus/100)

This is capped at:
(original_fleet_value-remaining_alive_value-value_stolen_by_fleet)*100* (metal_salvage_calculated/(metal_salvage_calculated+crystal_salvage_calculated+eonium_salvage_calculated)) * [take maximum of 1.01 or (your_planet_score/average_top20_planet_score)]

Questions?
