the arctic monkeys are absolutely worth your time. however, they aren't worth more of it than, say, the Arcade Fire, or Bloc Party, or Ladytron, or Sufjan Stevens or a thousand other bands catering to the same audience. They're popular because they have witty lyrics and fill the Britpop criteria.
