But that's the problem, they are all standing on the half way line waiting to be set free by soem amazing clearance from the back four. This is the argument against playing Lampard and Gerrard in the middle together. The only obvious solution (theoretically) is to play 1 striker and have Carrick playing in front of the back 4 but behind the middle 4 as that link.
One of my preferred alternatives is to play Gerrard on the right and Beckham separating Lampard from Gerrard in the centre. Hopefully then they wouldn't get in each others' way, etc.
