Stepping into quey's correctional shoes for a moment in order to point out to vaio that it should REALLY be "There's no place like ~", as ~ is the shortcut to the current user's home folder which is usually in a users folder and named according to their logon name (unless you're root, in which case it's usually /root).
For example, on one of the servers at uni for which my logon is "comd":
Code:
-bash-2.05b$ pwd
/diskh/zco/comd/public_html
-bash-2.05b$ cd ~
-bash-2.05b$ pwd
/diskh/zco/comd
-bash-2.05b$
Do I win some geek points now?
