Do note, as the ring was "built" a lot of the natural formations, aren't actually naturelly formed, and so the odd shape of things, can be rather hard to capture in writting.

The scouts depart back the way you came, sticking to the shade along the canyon wall, while the rest of the squad hurries over the hill. This alien building is now more distinguishable, it's situated on the edge of a very long drop, sheer cliff runs around one side of the terrain, something previously hidden by the canyon wall. The marines gather on a flatter patch some distance from the second structure.

Stacker: Corporal, take some men and sweep around the back of the first structure, I don't want any surprises, check the perimeter wall, if necessary we can hold up in there.

There's clear space between the two buildings in the direction Sarge points. He turns and faces the cliff edge, it's a huge drop of several hundred metres, from where kilometres of the ring's surface can be seen. Escape pods are coming down in the distance, then a loud erruption of colour on the horizon. It's the Piller of Autumn, Captain Keyes, is going to land on the ring. It's slowing and looks like it could be brough down intact, but by now most of the crew has been evacuted, many fighters (Long Swords) shot down covering the escape, but now they're in the atmosphere, more Dropships will be arriving to co-ordinate the resistance.

Lieutenant Tucker has assembled the comm array. The device, acts as a radio mast, sending and recieving communcation over a longer range, than the individual headsets. Broadcasts are encrypted and dispatched accordingly, as such Corporal Aglarzir recieves a more detailed report at times. The system will also bring up waypoints on the helmet HUD.

Your HUD suddenly lights up over your right eye, a small targetting rectacle, appears, when you glance in the direction of an identified hostile. As such, when looking in the direction of the Piller of Autumn, the visor is amess with red and green lights.
