You shouldnt rely on using swapspace nowadays. RAM prices are pretty low right now and 1gig of 667/800 DDR2 so-dimm costs about 40 Euro including VAT here.

The problem with upgrading existent RAM in a notebook is that in most cases you dont have slots free. So you need to replace the existing RAM instead of adding to it.
