I don't know why its acceptable to watch endless Television on Christmas day and not look at the internet. As it happens my parents have a laptop so i was able to do both.

There is a reflex part of it though which is that I like to know what's going on in the world. I didn't have access to the internet this morning and thus had to resort to reading half a book on William Morris and watching Stargate Atlantis.

the implication is that tv is marginally more social and a group event, unlike the internet, though the whole thing is rather stupid
