I'm not saying they are bad players or that it isn't value for money. It's just difficult to get excited by players who are inevitably going to be back-up. Can you honestly see any of those players becoming regulars in the team?

the only person who stands out is Alex, who is the exception to the rule but I'm not sure if he is definatly going to Chelsea yet.

Pizarrio and Sidewell have been signed with the African Nation in mind to which Drogba, Essien and Kalou will all be heading. Ben Haim is the back up defender that was badly needed last season. In as much as they are needed to boost the squad there have not been any signings to improve the overall quality.

Personally, I would like to see a new right-back, which is currently the wekest position in the squad. Ferraira is alrighht and ould be a great back up but Diarra makes too many mistakes and can be rather reckless with his challenges.
