For all those outthere wanting to hear something about brazil

So this is my rant thread on Brazil:

Rousseau once said that democracy could not be the dictatorship of the majority, and yet thats how my country is ruled. Our president is responsible for the largest drainage of middle and upper classes taxwise in history. This money is not used to build schools, universities or hospitals, which we desperatly need. They are simply given away to anyone who has a lot of children and does nothing, as a sort of a prize for being irresponsible in having childring ( although this prize should be shared with most of our stupid society for not accepting abortion) and a general ineptitute in doing any work. Our "social benefits" system is so gargantuan that even surpasses that of USA during the great drepession, in percentage of people attended, and the level of resources drown to it.
It generates some funny stories, as people who actually had a low wage labour, and then quitting it, because each of the children would earn more if he was unemployed. People leaving communal or subsistence farms to go beg to in the cities. They would not only receive money from the goverment, but a little extra on the begging. This way, millions of people depend on the State for their daily ration, since its more profitable than making a living for oneself, meaning they willing to keep lula forever in office

Thats the masterplan that the Workers party, which once was a highly idealistic stalinist party, that could never win an election, and now is a cynical political fox, devoided of any dreams or ilusions, only focused on the 'seizing the power' bit. Now that they have, its unlikely that they are going to let it escape. They have appointed managers, directors, interventors, etc etc to every and any body of government. All of them focused in expanding its political and economical power.
IBAMA, which is our agency that controls forests and wildlife wellbeing, mourned one of its darkest years when a lulist director allowed hundreds of square kilometers of amazon jungle to be wiped out in exchange of heavy cash deposits in the workers party accounts.
Celso Daniel´s relactives, a mayor that was murdered when he started investingating racketeering involving the transport system of a major city, were granted political asylum in france last week. So it happens that the workers party had to receive a large sum of money for every bus that rode on the city.
This money was used to bribe the parlament into passing laws and constitutional reforms to extend the PT power to ever more dangerous extents.
So, politically, they are taking every step possible to perpetuate on power forever more, its a constitutional coup d'etat, much like whats happening in venezuela right now.
Our latter president, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, modernised our economy and stabalized it to the current standarts. It was a rather painfull process: tight government budget, privatizations and the general measures that no one likes, but are paramount to paving a way for the country to grow. But such measures take time to pay off, and thats whats happing right now. Brazil is expected to grow 5% this year, a growth not experienced in decades. But most people tend to believe it is Lulas measures that are doing it. Not to mention that Cardoso´s terms (1994-2002) were specially critical times for developing nations, with the asian crisis and russian moratorium running amok, and lula got the bouncing back of the economies.

Even worst, its dogmas are simply ignorant. Calling english "the language of the oppressors", it was taken of the governmets test´s to be a ambassador. English is no longer necessary for one to became a brazillian diplomat. On behalf of the opressed slaves, Lula started using affirmative actions on Federal Universities. Such a ridiculous measure on country that never had an history of racism, and since the abolishment of slavery, in 1888, any and all racism is punishable. Above all, about 79% of the population is mestiços, a variable blend of white, indians and blacks. So how do people judge how should enter in the 'black' quotas? There is a RACE TRIBUNAL. Yes, here in brazil, in the 21st century we have a junta on every federal university where people take a look on applicants and go like "this aint black enough, GTFO! This hair is curly enough, you can get in" etc etc. It produced absurd dispartities. In the last Vestibular (test to be admitted in a university), regular candidates had to score 81 or more points out of 106 to enter in medicine, and quotists had to score an outrageous 39 points. Non quotists would be admitted only in biblioteconomy with this score. Of course, biblioteconomy is the least sought after course. Since most people are miscigenated, only a tiny fraction is black. Or white for that matter. Having quotas for it is plain stupidity. In one of the most presitigious universitiies, UnB (University of Brasilia) idetincal twins where judged differently, one got in by the quotas and one did not. It was the cover of one of the most read weekly magazines, Veja, but unfortunantely only 1.2 mil people 'read' it. The biggest journal is read by only 300.000 people out of 190 millions. So it befalls to people like me, which simply read a little and has a general understaning of the world to grief the darkest our of this forsaken land, but more importantly, try to shout it out to the world whats happening in here.

Ill post more later if people are interested...

PS.Sometimes i feel like im under the V for Vendetta government...
