But since they're not voting, and so not directly deciding who wins, we're better off focusing on those who do vote and which way various states swing. If Hillary gets the nomination, some Democrats will choose not to vote; if Sam Brownback (a big social conservative) got the Republican nomination, I expect that many moderate Republicans would struggle to vote for him and would instead stay at home.
Your point doesn't affect the general leanings of each state, nor Barrow's popular contention that a Democratic candidate needs to be from the South to win.
