He's perhaps one of the greatest Democratic prospects - young, black and a very powerful speaker, hugely charismatic. He appeals to a large cross-section of America, and has demonstrated in his short Senate career so far that he's able to work with Republicans successfully. He shot to fame in 2004 with the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention, pushing Kerry into the shadows.

It really won't matter that much. Get him on TV and exposed to every American and I think he'll be unstoppable. He transcends racial stereotypes - the colour of his skin will probably never be an issue except in the media, which needs something to talk about. You don't really need to be from the South either, it just can help.
