Within the next 5 years, it's been predicted that ICT will replace Science as one of the "core 3 subjects" - maths/english being the other 2. Lots of further education establishments (colleges, sixth foms etc) require a pass (A*-C) in GCSE ICT as part of their unconditional offers.

I'm actually just pleased that this coursework isn't based around creating retarded databases and doing mail merges - this is actually relatively fun to teach/learn.

The gradings (if you are interested) for this section of the coursework are:
Pass (equivalent to C)
Create a static advertising banner, with suitable text/graphics

Merit (equivalent to B)
Produce a static advertising banner, with some form of user interaction. This should be fit for purpose. (the user interaction can be something simple like a hyperlink)

Distinction (equivalent to A-A*)
Produce an animated/moving advertising banner, combining text/graphics. This should be fit for audience and purpose.
