Midfielders: Beckham (Real Madrid), Carrick (Tottenham), Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Parker (Newcastle), Downing (Middlesbrough), J Cole (Chelsea), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea)

Strikers: Rooney (Manchester United), Owen (Newcastle), Crouch (Liverpool), Defoe (Tottenham), Bent (Charlton)


Dropped: Lennon, Jenas, Hargreaves, Walcott.

And if we had to take Walcott, I wouldn't have taken Wright-Phillips.
