Well the whole "God" and "Why are we here" can be tied together. If there is a "God", why is he/she there?.
The reason we're here is a matter of an individuals destiny. You can't ask that question relating to the entire human race. I believe that it is up to an individual to decide why they are here.
I can see your point of view though... i just refuse to buy it. In the majority of cases you won't convince religious people that there is no "God" and visa versa for people who don't believe.
