I've avoided this story in the papers.

So far as I can tell, from reading this thread, and headlines; a little girl has been kidnapped in some awful third world country (Spain?) and JK Rowling has offered lots of money for her return.

The Pope is also involved.

I can only speculate that all of this attention seems to have been generated because the little girl is cute looking.
