Karo's suggestion is not to change PA, but to run a last man standing game aside from the main game.
It's essentially a more ruthless and brutal version of the current speed game set up, condensed into one or two days, so on that basis it bears a very real and direct relation to Planetarion :P
Though, as sum1 else said, I would like to know at what point a planet is deemed to be 'killed off'
