He will be eligible for parole after 26 years from the date he was taken in to custody (in this case January 5, 2029).
If he had been found not guilty, he could not have sued. However, if he went back to court to get a finding of factually innocent then he would have gotten $100 a day for the days he was incarcerated and could have sued if there was some particular violation of his constitutional rights.
