Yeah it's thicker than normal hard lenses and have tiny holes in them to make it possible to allow oxygen to the eyes. It's not very comfortable to wear while you're not sleeping. I believe this is the wikipedia entry to it, although it seems quite incomplete comparing to the dutch wikipedia article about them so i guess there's another, better, article out there about it.
