Read again, the offer was to take every other alliance out to such an extent that they could no longer influence the round, i.e. the only way the round could actually be turned into a proper 1 vs. 1 fight.
As for depending on Ascendancy to help secure a win or whatever...yeah, thanks but no thanks.
