It is a fairly clever little piece of marketing, taking advantage of people's jaded attitude towards hi-concept hollywood movies, a style which went out of fashion several years ago. The Simpsons has been taking the piss out of this for years (film about a talking pie), this is just a logical extension.
starship troopers being a case in point.
