so I just got my laptop back from novatech
 

It kept blue screening and then just died. They've replaced the ram and the hdd and just now it gave me a BSOD saying MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.
should I get back to them and complain or what?

If you've done nothing to it since getting it back (i.e. not installed any software, changed any settings, etc) then yes, immediately phone them back. If you've done various things to it then they'll probably ask you to retore it back to factory settings before doing anything. Most places soak test the machines overnight to test for any problems before returning it.

I think its likely to be some poker software called poker mountain, as it hasn't happened since and that was the only thing running.

try going into the BIOS and reset defaults, change boot sequence to cd first and repair/reinstall windows, tis a pain, but sounds like you lost everything on your HDD anyway. Or plug the HDD into a PC [you might need a 2.5 to 3.5" IDE adapter, they are quite cheap or SATA equivalent] and scan fo virus etc.
