did he get banned for his posts towards me in my thread? I don't really think that qualifies for banning somebody, first of all he needs the practice since it weren't all that good attempts at flaming to begin with (seriously, everybody who's been online for a few years can deal with his attempts) and secondly whatever he says is a part of the type he wants to come over as with his gimmick account.. if it were a person's real account it might have been qualified as offensive.. but since it's a gimmick I think it can only be the result of needing attention, and if you had to ban everybody that yearned for attention you'd have to ban half the internet :(

I totally agree with the deleting of probable advertising accounts before they've posted any advertising but I'm not sure about the banning of unfunny gimmick accounts on site... Especially if they're not annoying anyone.

BTW on the advertising front - over on PB I just banned an account that signed up a year ago, made a single post and then came back recently to advertise penis extensions. It went straight into the moderation queue (new users posting links in their first 5 posts) but just thought you should look out for them...

Not really Ste. I'm sure you remember the days of scores of gimmick accounts fagging up the forums - and although it's amusing to have a good gimmick account posting for a while, once the joke gets old then it's just time to get rid of it with a ban.

I banned Kieker Jan yesterday for posting porn, that's hardly a new rule. Forest got banned for a day over on AD for being retarded. Nothing new there either.


This moderation queue thing sounds interesting, but the problem here is that the PA forums need instant access for new players who signup with help queries that can sometimes be quite urgent. We'd also have to change the moderator structure a fair bit, depending on how this queue would be implemented. Certainly in the other place there aren't as many restrictions on how the forums need to be run.

These gimmick accounts are so obvious that they aren't doing any harm. They aren't funny either but they're hardly making the forum a worse place.

That's not what I meant... Posting porn is obviously zero tolerence and getting a suspension for being a twat on a "serious" forum is hardly suprising...

This is obviously off-topic but it was pretty simple to implement iirc.
Any thread made by a user with less than 5 posts containing certain words or a link has to be approved by a moderator before it's visible to everyone.
But yeh - that's for you guys to discuss...

His posts weren't bad. I mean yeah, they trolled a little and consisted mostly of one-liner jokes which were all along the same lines of comedy. But then our favourite Irishman, JBG, also falls under this category. While he does make pretty good posts, a lot aren't on topic, are insulting, and are just one-liners. Should he be banned too?

Anyway the mods won't retract their decision, so we can kick our feet in the air about it all we want. Nothing will be done about it and noone has learnt a lesson. Awesome.
