[Football] Transfer Window Jan '08

Unconfirmed & Confirmed Transfers Thread for anyone interested.

[Unconfirmed]
  • Nicolas Anelka - Bolton --> Chelsea
  • Wes Brown - Man Utd --> Sunderland/Newcastle
  • Phillipe Senderos - Arsenal --> ?
  • Eidur Gudjohnsen - Barcelona --> Man City
  • Ronaldinho - Barcelona --> Chelsea
  • Peter Crouch - Liverpool --> Newcastle

[Confirmed]
  • Didier Drogba - Chelsea --> Real Madrid - £30 million, Summer '08

For a totally irrelevant point have a look at BBC Football Table. The top 4 have not lost a game at home and the no. of games they have lost away corresponds to their position. Wonder how long this will look like this (as it has for a while).

Senderos isn't going anywhere - captained the Carling Cup team on Wednesday. Currently first backup defender, and with Toure gone for the ACN he'll probably be in the side, unless the recalled Djourou goes straight into the team. Arsenal are low on centre-backs so we can't afford to let either of them go.

Is Drogba -> RM actually confirmed?

Djourou is going to be taking the spot for January & February. Didn't you know that the team that played was essentially the 'reserve' team?

Senderos going has been on the cards for a long time.

Arsenal are not low on centre backs either. Song and Hoyte can both play in the centre.

Despite a few mistakes, I think Song played much better than Senderos. Senderos had Tony Adams potential.

It's gone now imo.

Senderos is absolute pants although I'm not sure if Arsene agrees with the rest of the world on that. He's slow and he makes mistakes, a terrible combination. The reality is Djourou has more match experience this season and, lets face it, it's not like he could play any worse if given the shot. Personally I hope we bring in another centreback with potential (whilst selling on Senderos) as Toure will be a big loss when he goes on holiday to Africa for a month.

Forest want David Edwards from us (Luton), hopefully he won't go though. Also expect a whole host of Championship teams being linked with half our squad.

Re: [Football] Transfer Window Jan '08

Apparently Megson wants to buy Tyson and Commons from us (Forest) which is rather amusing if true as they are certainly nowhere near premiership standard.
I think it's lazy journalism tho.

For a totally irrelevant point have a look at this list of transfers.

Allsystemsgo: the reason ronaldinho might go is because he is out of contract. Chelsea have expressed interest in him and they are alone. AC Milan no longer have an interest in him.

As for Peter Crouch - if you don't give a shit, don't bother commenting? Wes Brown leaving is likely because Nicky Butt is there and someone else (forgotten) and they have spoken to him about actually joining.

Instead of giving me your opinion, next time give me some information kthanksbye.

Re: [Football] Transfer Window Jan '08

Why would Chelsea pay £30 million for a player who is out of contract in the summer? Why would they buy a player in January who is inelligable to play in the Champions League?

I commented on Crouch because I commented on everything else and it seemed rude not to. I really couldn't give two shits because I hate Liverpool and I hate Newcastle and both want them to badly. He isn't a great asset to either club so it's of little consequence.

It's possible Brown might leave but I'm always sceptical regarding long-term Man U players leaving, especially in the summer when they have a good chance of winning the title this year.

Whilst we're on the topic of information, which orafice did you pull the Drogba transfer confirmation out of?

The one that suggests that Jose Mourinho will go to Real Madrid.

However, I was under the impression that Mourinho is going to AC Milan, and that Drogba will follow him there instead. Nevertheless, don't delude yourself into thinking that Drogba will still be a Chelsea player this time next year.

Um dude check my post again, I never said Chelsea are going to pay £30million, that's why they are possibly going to GET for Drogba. You my friend have gotten mixed up.

EDIT: As for the Drogba claims, Real Madrid are going to make a bid in the region of £30mil give or take a million but it is not for an immediate move rather in the summer. If he doesn't, Milan will swoop in. That is why Chelsea want Nicolas Anelka.

Sources? Everywhere.

Senderos is not going in january. Even if Djorou is now beeing recalled and are going to play alongside Gallas, and thus making Senderos 3th or 4th choice as center back. He might be off in the summer, though.

People who might be leaving in january from the great football club known as Arsenal, might be Gilberto Silva, Lassana Diarra (who publicly claimed he is unhappy) Jens "Grumpy" Lehman and someone from the reserves who isnt making it. Bendtner won't be allowed to leave, atleast not yet.
And Eboue won't be sold either, sadly.

In: Perhaps a goalie, perhaps Modric, perhaps two-three young players (like the bulgarian who are currently on trial).

Have you heard of Mputu Zhukov. He was on trial, has impressed Wenger who might make the bid of £500,000 for him. A bargain if you ask me.

You say that, but Milan aren't doing so well in the league at the moment. As a team Milan are probably on the downslope - an increasingly aging defence and an attack that relies heavily on Kaka and Pirlo. If Mourinho is able to bring Drogba with him then there'd be a lot to be said for replacing Ancelotti.

Yes, Milan might have games in hand but even if they won all of those they'd still be 13 points behind Inter. Not a good situation to be in if you're Milan's coach.

jerome 21 Dec 2007 10:06

Re: [Football] Transfer Window Jan '08

no i (sort of) literally mean family; berlusconi and ancelotti are pyjama party buddies even. i can't see milan "not" ending top 4 and that's basically all they've been doing in the league since they won it 4-5 years ago anyway.

He's out of contract in 18months, not 6 months. Has been reported though that the manager and the player are not exactly seeing eye to eye anymore (rise of Messi in the team above Ron now). Barca would look to sell him now/summer to gain maximum income from him.

Wes Brown however actually IS out of contract in the summer, but rejected United's new contract offer. Time shall see whether Ferguson hes 2-2.5mil as better business than having Brown for another 6 months...

Whether Drogba will stay or not is not the issue.

What has been declared is that Drogba has already been sold. This is false. A point that your post indicates rather well.

How does any of that confirm him going to Real Madrid? Straight after, you say it's not confirmed. Please make up your mind.

It's hardly surprising for Chelsea to be linked with every player in the world, what makes the Anelka rumour any more likely than all the others?

Again, who is going to buy a player who is inelligable for the Champions League?

A team with a rich Russian who has wanted to buy Ronaldino since he first arrived there?

Maybe I should have worded my post better :(

He CAN be out of contract in 18months, his ACTUAL contract runs out Summer 2010 if I remember correctly.

Paul Scholes is definitely moving to Sunderland, I saw it in the BBC gossip column last summer
