I assume it's basically gonna be like Smallville but without any of the things that made that program semi-watchable.

I reckon they'll somehow squeeze in quite a few jedi fights, force powers, space battles etc and the whole community will go up in arms about it.

if it's good it will be great, not just cause sw is a fantastic platform for story telling, but cause it will also keep me out the pub....

if it's bad it will cheapen the originals....

Empire Strikes Back is the best.


This spin-off would have been pretty good if they'd concentrated on Han Solo or someone - as we don't know much about their history (except he did the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs!!!! hurra?) and you could bring a load of bountyhunter/gangster stuff in, which'd be quite cool.

I can't see how a Luke Skywalker spinoff would be remotely entertaining.

Why do this? why not finish his 9 movies and show what happens to Skywalker AFTER ROTJ. I mean , thats actually a shitload more interesting than what happened to him as a kid.

SW tells us he knew nothing of his parents. He knew nothing of being a Jedi, he was just a kid in a hut in the desert.

How the bollocks do you make that interesting?

well... you could watch darth become the biggest most evil and hated coont in the galaxy for all those years before he invades Leia's ship? There might not be any jedi, but there's definately a couple of sith....

plus there's Han and his exploits, boba fett's rise to infamy and of course the rise of the rebellion movement..

personally tho i think they should set it at the same time as Knights of the Old Republic tho, then they can have lots of sith and lots of jedi and pretty much do what the fook they want without messing with the 6 (or hopefully 9)...

but the real answer to 'why do this?' is sadly fairly obvious....

Fact is , Lucas is getting old , and he wants to do as much and make as much as he can before he shuffles off this mortal coil.

Alas , hes going to piss on his memory if the last thing we remember him for is an Indiana Jones sequel-too-far, and a TV series that means nothing to the majority of SW Fans.

If its a god awful nonsensical parody of what a SW series should be, id rather Lucas be around to fix it after a series or two than leave it in the hands of someone else whos either going to be a rabid fanboy or a suited exec with no clue.

Mr Lucas told the Celebration III convention the live action TV series would be similar to Raiders of the Lost Ark spin-off The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

"Like on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, we want to write all the stories for the entire first season all at once," he said.

"I'm going to get it started, and hire the show runners and all of that, then I'll probably step away."

Perhaps Lucas wants his work continued after he dies.... like Gene Roddenberry or something... i hope it's better than Young Indy tho, I only ever saw a couple of those and they seemed fairly poor!

I quite liked young indie. They weren't a patch on the films, but as a series, they were rather watchable. I liked the young sherlock holmes as well though, so maybe I've just got a thing for adolescent adventurer-types?

I heard that Lucas was going to mix Star Wars with American Graffiti and call it Galaxy Graffiti. It would center around cruising the drag on Tatowine on Saturday nights.

One of the episodes is to feature Luke being buggered by Jabba the Hut. It will be entitled "Broke Back Jedi."

In a later episode, Princess Leah and Han Solo are at a pub and Princess Leah needs a cigarette and give Pig a hand job.

And in the finale, fore telling the end of civilization, Tomcat gets a job as a teacher and George Bush is elected president.
