This little feud between Plastic Brilliance and General Discussions is pathetic. I know at the moment it's quite small and just a little bit of sniping between the two "communities" but it's completely unnecessary, and could escalate into animosity.

People can post in both.

Some people seem to think it's an either-or situation. It isn't. I'm a member of both. Admittedly, I don't post in PB that much (but I do lurk).

GD seems to have a lot more in terms of interesting and semi-intelligent discussions. PB has blogs which I like (although I don't have one myself), and allows pictures. I haven't looked at the betting or other areas of the site. So if I feel like going on a forum with that kind of stuff, I'll go there.

Admittedly, some of the users who I don't know on PB seem mildly moronic, but I'm sure as the community there evolves they'll learn to be less shit.

Yes.

1. People should stop linking to PB threads from here. It just looks like you're trying to poach members really. If people want to go to PB they'll find their own way there.
2. People should stop making anti-PB comments such as the [PB] tag and "lol this is such a PB thread".
3. It is possible to post in both forums. There is a lot of tripe in both, but in both there is some entertaining stuff. Those who haven't been in GD should take a look and post, and those who haven't been in PB should take a look and post.


If we lived in a perfect world we could take the good things about PB (the fact you can post pictures, the blogs, the betting, the interfact) and the good things about GD (the memberbase, the attitude towards life in general) and merge them into something wonderful. But I can't see this happening :(

Theres no 'feud', a few shitty posters have went elsewhere to post worthless threads and GD has improved as a result.

I do agree. Although as of late i think PB has gone 'downhill' a bit. Even so i do login occasionaly and look to see if anything interesting is there. I see no problem posting between the two, and you are right, the rivalry is stupido.

i've got nothing against pb, i like a good number of the posters there ( <3 1-X ), and generally i agree with your post.

i have to say i disagree with kura tho, i don't think the posters that are still here "all share the same views* and back each other up" and i'm not really sure of who he's saying is in a clique. i am starting to notice a trend in the people who post there and those who post here however.

ps: and jj is the bestest admin ever and if he ever runs for planetary overlord he's got my vote

If GD allowed pictures, an arcade, and a porn forum, it would trounce PB. As it is it merely deficates on it.

Edit: Oh and if weeks came back, and 1-X was a mod.

GD has turned quite hostile and unfriendly of late, perhaps people should start looking at why people are posting more on other sites (not just PB).

thing is, i really don't see this. when it first started out, it was hostile as hell, but after the first year or so i haven't noticed any real hostility. (with the notable exception of yahweh. and maybe sunday sometimes.)

as for pictures i was seriously considering this just a few days ago as our numbers have dropped it might now be viable to 'police' incase of porn...altho tbh if you post a link to porn its pretty much the same thing...

I think it's something you should seriously consider.

Most of the people are mature enough to know what putting idiotic pictures in means.

Also if you use Firefox (and Opera has this option, I'd imagine) you can block pictures if you don't want them. It's just when I'm at work (whenever I get back to work...) I often blocked images on GD (which stopped avatars) so it looked less like I was dossing around on the net when I was in the staffroom.

Maybe it's just me but it seems that more and more posts are just 'the usual suspects' posting little quips in threads about how stupid/pointless/retarded/wrong the thread or user are.
Little pointless comments.
Self ego stroking or outright abuse.

And with regards to rep, there was a whole new way to piss people off. Neg repping anonymously about everything and anything. Disagreeing for the sake of it or because you mightn't like that poster. (I was even neg repped for my avatar)

It all builds up to create an uncomfortable place to hang out. Why bother getting such grief from people? It's not like you HAVE to stay here. So people have left and are leaving.

Personally I won't post any more threads here, not because of some sort of protest or harsh feeling. But because I know they won't be recieved well here or even given any sort of decent consideration by a (now)very cliquey userbase. Why should I bother when all I will get is grief, anon neg reps and other such snide reactions.

I've been here since the start of PA, I don't know anyone with a join date as early as mine(aside from JJ). I've arsed around these forums for what is now years. And in all that time I never actually hated what GD had become.

What the **** is wrong with you people. I'm including PB cross posters in this too.

If I install Exchange server and then give some friends an unrestricted email account with unlimited storage and send size then that's all good. They may use it. They may also have a Hotmail account. Are MSN going to have a hissy fit and claim on their main page that skiddymail.com are competing by stealing all of the members and that it is infact me who is to blame for some people not thinking Hotmail is any good anymore?

Yes, Plastic Brilliance is a joint venture between Mindy, 1-X and myself. Yes some people from GD now also post there. Yes, I told some friends about it and they also post. They brought people. It's called word of mouth.


It's not as if GD hasn't stolen every ****ing last thing that SA has ever done.

Frankly the only thing I dislike is the fact you advertise it. I don't mean posting links, that shit I don't mind. However having it in your signatures I don't really agree with. That said I don't think it's a serious enough issue to bother objecting to, otherwise I would have!

On an aside - someone tell Demon Dave that he has a Veruca which will tend towards a major infection that may need an operation if he doesn't stop sticking his nail clippers into it.

People always look for some reason to moan on GD, they'll whinge about PB for a few weeks yet then forget about it and move onto something else.

I'm fairly sure everyone is aware of this fact.

I'm just worried that half the people here will go over to PB, then neither forum will have a large enough memberbase to maintain themselves and will die off.

No one wants either community to die. I still lurk here, not posting mainly because I've either got nothing to say (I'm trying not to just post crap like I used to) or because I'm just too busy.

I post over at PB because it's my kinda thing - easy going and light hearted.

To be honest, PB is just my little way of figuring out PHP and having something to work towards instead of making recurringly more complex versions of 'Hello World'.

I read plastic brilliance once, I thought it was drivel and pretty much cringeworthy. If people want to talk about what they are cooking for tea it's up to them, personally I don't see why anyone would give a shit.

Well, GD sometimes pisses me off but that's due mainly to rep. I like GD because the discussion is sometimes stimulating. PB appears friendly, certainly, which is nice. In any case, I will just hang around both. :)

Toccata is friends with Yahwe, who is friends with skiddy, but they're on different sides. Kura is friends with skiddy who is friends with yahwe but yahwe is on both forums. Hardly anyone likes yahwe but he's on both forums but cited as a reason why people are leaving.

By the way, out of intrest, am i part of the in crowd now? I always wanted to be part of the in crowd so i could deny it and play down my popularity and importance.
